Few things get less respect than a hard drive, yet we rely on putting our most important assets on them everyday. To stand out in a crowded and often overlooked hard drive market, WD tapped us to produce their new My Book Live Home Network Drive video for Best Buy’s POS (point-of-sale) retail. WD wanted to do something with free-running to attract and engage shoppers. We employed Team Tempest free-runners Luci Romberg and Dan Mast to bring their vision to life. Our job was to employ the right equipment to follow Luci & Dan kinetically and to capture their art form while infusing key product information at the right times. We shot this on the Weisscam at 500fps and the RED on a 25’ Technocrane at the RFK Community School in Downtown LA. Our friends at Tunnel Post dialed-in the color. We produced several versions of this video for various platforms. This longer version is our favorite. WD is now sponsoring Team Tempest. We haven’t seen the end of “True Freedom".

We produced two additional videos for consumers at Best Buy to learn more about using the My Book Live network drive should they choose to employ the touchscreen.

  • With this project we wanted to communicate freedom—the freedom you get using a network drive, which lets you access your digital content anytime and on any screen. We came up with free running as an exciting, global sport that was all about freedom. We took the idea to merit/andrew. They understood it immediately, added their unique artistic touch, and made it happen … on time and on budget. Thanks, guys, and Caroline! As always, great work.Cathy Scott, VP Corporate Marketing, WD
